Swimsuit's self-titled debut offers up a steady stream of hyper-focused, powerful, and beautiful songs. Their sound is equal parts scrappy and soft; surf-tinged pop songs and endless hooks fighting with a hazy punk undercurrent. The group hones in on the reverb-doused harmonies and space between the elements for a concise set of jams that flows seamlessly and is gone before you know it. Swimsuit's multiple vocalists jump from revved-up stompers about the sunshine's heat to lazy, dubbed-out instrumentals, then back again. The vibe is bright and brilliant, a near-perfect summer day, but not without some clouds lingering in the distance. More than anything, Swimsuit gives us ten unthinkably catchy numbers that sound destined by fate to be listened to along side each other, over and over again until the world submerges and starts again.
